Sermon – “He Can Do Something New”

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
²³ They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
²⁴ “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!”

But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you.
    O Israel, the one who formed you says,
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.
    I have called you by name; you are mine.
² When you go through deep waters,
    I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
    you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
    you will not be burned up;
    the flames will not consume you.
³ For I am the Lord, your God,
    the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom;
    I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
⁴ Others were given in exchange for you.
    I traded their lives for yours
because you are precious to me.
    You are honored, and I love you.

⁵ “Do not be afraid, for I am with you.
    I will gather you and your children from east and west.
⁶ I will say to the north and south,
    ‘Bring my sons and daughters back to Israel
    from the distant corners of the earth.
⁷ Bring all who claim me as their God,
    for I have made them for my glory.
    It was I who created them.’”

⁸ Bring out the people who have eyes but are blind,
    who have ears but are deaf.
⁹ Gather the nations together!
    Assemble the peoples of the world!
Which of their idols has ever foretold such things?
    Which can predict what will happen tomorrow?
Where are the witnesses of such predictions?
    Who can verify that they spoke the truth?

¹⁰ “But you are my witnesses, O Israel!” says the Lord.
    “You are my servant.
You have been chosen to know me, believe in me,
    and understand that I alone am God.
There is no other God—
    there never has been, and there never will be.
¹¹ I, yes I, am the Lord,
    and there is no other Savior.
¹² First I predicted your rescue,
    then I saved you and proclaimed it to the world.
No foreign god has ever done this.
    You are witnesses that I am the only God,”
    says the Lord.
¹³ “From eternity to eternity I am God.
    No one can snatch anyone out of my hand.
    No one can undo what I have done.”

¹⁴ This is what the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:

“For your sakes I will send an army against Babylon,
    forcing the Babylonians to flee in those ships they are so proud of.
¹⁵ I am the Lord, your Holy One,
    Israel’s Creator and King.
¹⁶ I am the Lord, who opened a way through the waters,
    making a dry path through the sea.
¹⁷ I called forth the mighty army of Egypt
    with all its chariots and horses.
I drew them beneath the waves, and they drowned,
    their lives snuffed out like a smoldering candlewick.

¹⁸ “But forget all that—
    it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.
¹⁹ For I am about to do something new.
    See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
    I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

⁵ Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the Lord his God,
⁶ Who made heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever,
⁷ Who executes justice for the oppressed,
Who gives food to the hungry.
The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners.

⁸ The Lord opens the eyes of the blind;
The Lord raises those who are bowed down;
The Lord loves the righteous.
⁹ The Lord watches over the strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow;
But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.

¹⁰ The Lord shall reign forever—
Your God, O Zion, to all generations.

Praise the Lord!

³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? ³² He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? ³³ Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. ³⁴ Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. ³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ³⁶ As it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

³⁷ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

I title my scripture or my sermon or rather he can do something new my friends God can do something new he is a God of new beginnings new things Lord can do need new things and he can make something new he can make us a new when we surrender our hearts to Him He can make us new beans new creatures in him my script is going to compromise a when I get to it but have some other things you know as we begin the New Year some might look back on the past year and be glad its behind them truly be glad its behind them because it may have been a trying year with many difficulties many trials you may have experienced some sort of illness a loss of a loved one you may experience a financial burden you may look forward to a fresh start with turn that calendar over it’s like yes a new year we have hopes that this year will be a better year if last year was a bad year for myself I’m trying to figure out where the last years went is gone so quickly but whether it was good or bad I think we all hope for a good year don’t wait I think we hope for good health for ourselves and our families I think we hope for peace in our families in our nation in our communities I think we hope for peace I think we hope to experience love I think and I hope that we hope for a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ I hope that’s number one on our list and a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ the good news spiritual is that we serve a God of new beginnings we indeed serve a God of 2nd chances. You know even if we messed up last year maybe we send greatly I don’t know we messed up here’s my advice forget about the past repent and look to God for strength and hope for a new year a new day right and if our hope and our strength is in Him we can overcome anything that will come against us when we were lying on him limitations 32224 says through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed because his compassions fail not they are new every morning Amen I got an amen out of that there are new gods mercies friends are new every morning not just once in a while when you woke up the smore to think about that God’s mercy these were new says great as your faithfulness the Lord is my portion says my soul therefore I hope in Him friends word you put your hope in him amen amen amen the new Amen we put our hope in him every morning you know we may have stumbled yesterday today’s a new day he is the one we go to he is the one in which we find our hope the one in whom we can find true forgiveness you know when it comes to new beginnings the most radical change the rose the most radical new beginning is when we become a new creation in Jesus Christ he can remove that old Hard’s the heart of stone and make it new make it loving make it kind of compassionate that is the most radical thing that we can begin a new creation in Jesus Christ the most radical new beginning ever known in each of us has experienced that. When Christ came to earth as a man his goal was to change make new the hearts the minds the lives of every single human being to walk upon the earth then and now he came to see can say that which was lost with his great sacrifice on the cross with his victory over death we can have new life in this life in the life to come it’s not just for that which is a come but it’s even in this life we are new in him we don’t have to wait for that change we can have it today we can have it every morning because every morning his mercies are new are they not today we’re going to take in 2 new members in the church that brings joy to my heart I hope it brings joy to yours that these girls have decided become a member of think they are of the age they understand and I want to get to that little bit let’s go ahead and pray then we’ll get into the other scripture Heavenly Father we do thank you and praise you thank you for your mercies that are new every morning by the week this thank you for your forgiveness father that you’re willing to even forgive us in our sinful nature you’re willing to say I forgive you come to me repent of your sins and come to me father that’s such an amazing thing and we just thank you for we humbly thank you Ford Father we thank you for your Holy Spirit that when we believe in you comes and dwells within us and guides us and all that we do and father we just and surrender this service to you father may you be glorified major will be done may your truth and your words be spoken for your glory and for your honor in Jesus’ name amen so my scripture today comes from Isaiah Chapter 43 verses one through 19 this is I did say the New Living Translation right I did Ok. I love the reading of the New Living Translation in this passage hear the word of the Lord but now old Jacob listen to the Lord who created you oh Israel the one who formed you says Do not be afraid for I have ransom you I have called you by name you are mine when you go through the deep waters I will be with you when you go through the rivers of difficulty you will not d er or God speaking to her here’s what she felt that the Lord was telling her and I think we can receive this I am watching over you continually No matter what you are experiencing or how alone you feel trust that I am with you well aware of your circumstances when you are in the throes of adversity it is easy to fail abandon So it is crucial at set sets times to tell yourself the truth nothing can separate you from my loving presence when this truth has sunk deeply into your mind and heart your ready to commune with me. When you find me tenderly present with you as I enter into your suffering the interest intimacy you share with me is enhanced by adversity when you invite me into your experience without bitterness or resentments to enjoy these intimate moments with me you must trust me refusing to rely on your own understanding trusting me involves consciously leaning on me for support just as leaning on a mass of rock helps you keep on keep standing when you are weary I am indeed the rock of your refuge I think that definite was inspired because I feel that that’s what God says to us and they know me trust in me the same as you go through this year put your hope in me and I will be with you and why because he loves you because he loves you he loves you he loves me and he demonstrated that love in Jesus is the answer Amen.
