Matthew 27:57-60, 28:1-7

57 Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. 58 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him. 59 When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed. Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. 4 And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. 5 But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”

Lk. 7:11-15

11 Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. 12 And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” 14 Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” 15 So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.

Lk 8:54-56

54 But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.” 55 Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat. 56 And her parents were astonished, but He charged them to tell no one what had happened.

Jn. 11:43-44

43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”

Lk. 19:9-10

9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

1 Peter 2:21-24

21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 22 “Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”; 23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

The miracle of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the feeding death rising up out of that grave as Karen already said the grave could not hold so this morning I want to be reading to use for Matthew chapter twenty seven verses fifty step back twenty twenty seven verses fifty seven through sixty I’m not awake yet and verses Chapter twenty eight verses one through seven might have to just keep repeating this here so you’re going to say well I heard a lot of this same stuff yesterday so I can preach from the same well actually preach from Luke but if you know the same story but a different message because he says My word is new every morning Amen so this morning is New actually Paul’s here second I had intended to get an old sermon out and just kind of revamp a little bit further for today well Friday morning the Lord had other ideas Rizana said the spirit won the let’s be lazy. So something new here the word of the Lord now when evening had come. There came a rich man from airman named Joseph who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus this man went to pilot and asked for the body of Jesus then pilot commanded the body to be given to him when Joseph had taken the body he wrapped it in linen cloth and laid it in his new tomb his new tomb which he had him out of the Rock and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb and departed then move into Chapter twenty eight verses one through seven now after the Sabbath as the first day of the week began to dawn Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb and behold there was a great earthquake for an angel of the Lord be sent in from heaven and came and rolled back the stem from the door and sat on it his countenance was like lightning and his clothing as white as snow and the Guard ship for fear of him that’s important to remember the guards were there the guards witness this the Guard ship for fear of him and became like dead men but the angel answered and said to the women do not be afraid for I know that you see Jesus who was crucified he is not here for he is risen how it. He has risen as he said Come and see the place where the Lord lay and go quickly and tells disciples that he has risen from the dead and indeed he is going before you into Galilee there you will see him Behold I have told you may God out his blessings the hearing and the reading of His Holy Word let us pray Heavenly Father we do give you praise and glory and honor and we thank you father that you were willing to let your son come to this earth to become a man to take on flesh to feel the things that we feel to experience pain to experience suffering to experience all the things that man experiences yet he was without sin Lord Jesus we thank you that you live the perfect life and that you were the perfect lamb that was slain for the sins of the world but we thank you most of all that the grave could not hold you that death could not be feature you did you rose up out of that grave victorious that first Easter morning and because you do live we can live to we give you glory and honor and praise for that and thank you Father we just thank you and worship you and may we live our lives in a way that would be pleasing unto you may we serve you with our lives may we walk as you walked by the power of your spear May your spirit lead us today Guidice would give us the words that you would have us to hear in Jesus’ name amen that passage I believe is as I already explain the miracle of all miracles the miracles that Jesus and many of his disciples did were so amazing amazing there are so many recorded in his word but his word also tells us if all the things that Jesus had done that all the things that Jesus did rather were recorded there would not be enough books in the world to hold them all of his teaching all the miracles if they had recorded every last one of them there would not be enough books hold him imagine that in just three years time so amazing I want to share some of the miracles and I actually found one particular passage that reveals many miracles Matthew fifteen twenty nine through thirty one says Jesus departed from there he skirted the Sea of Galilee and went up on the mountain and set down there then great multitude came to him. And I pause because you know I think about that he still goes up one of the mountain side he’s going to sit down he’s going to teach to people of course he’s going to hear you but imagine what that will be like someday to sit down with Jesus up there teach in the multitude of course he won’t be needing to heal anybody because there won’t be any healing needed but the set there and listen to Jesus is the teacher of all teachers what a time that will be I look forward to that day so he said down and they said down there then great multitude came having with them the lame the blind the mute maimed and many others and they laid them down at Jesus’ feet and he healed them so the multitude marveled when they saw the Muj speaking the main made whole the lame walking and the blind seeing and they glorified to God of Israel so many of these they had to carry in a mass because they were crippled they couldn’t walk but Jesus healed them he healed them all didn’t say he healed some of them but he healed them there were some that Jesus even raised from the dead in Luke seven verses eleven through fifteen now and that now it happen the day after that that he went into the city called inane and many of his disciples went with them and a large crowd and when he came near the gate of the city behold a dead man was being carried out the only son of his mother and she was a widow and a large crowd from the city was with her you know. That’s something a parent should never have to do is bury their children but we know that it does happen but it’s just a heart wrenching thing when it does happen but apparently this woman was well liked in the community because there was a large crowd from the city that was there with her they were mourning with or they were weeping with her and you know I think of some of the funerals and the viewings that I’ve been to over the years if there was a person that was extremely well liked while I remember one particular fellow that we went to church with from Holy Cross I mean he was active for. Always life with youth league sports and all kinds of things I mean everybody in the community just knew him his name was Bob Scott when we went to the viewing they come out the door down the sidewalk that way this way and clean down around to the back and plus the long line in the group inside I mean he was well liked loved to should say by many not just liked he was loved by many there was a large crowd to go see Bob there was a large crowd there with this woman who Jesus had compassion compassion in this woman when he saw all how she loved her son and how they loved her when the Lord saw her he had compassion on her and said to her Do not weep then he came and touched the open coffin and those who carried him stood still and he said Young man I say to you arise so he who was dead set up and began to speak and he presented him to his mother glory hallelujah man would not be awesome Jesus come in interrupt your funeral yes Hallelujah I mean that mother arms on no was rejoicing then there was jars he had a young daughter in Luke Chapter eight verses fifty four fifty fifty six but he put them all outside he took her by the hand and called saying little girl arise then her spirit returned and she arose immediately and he commanded that she be given something to eat and her parents were astonished but he charged them all to tell no one what had happened then of course there’s the one that erosion the gray that I know all have probably read and heard about and that was Lazarus we know that Lazarus had died in his sister’s Martha and Mary sent for Jesus but he lingered worry was for a couple more days he knew would happen but he lingered for a couple more days so finally he made his way there to Bethany and his sisters come out cities if you would only been here our brother would not have died and he was moved again with compassion because of their great love for their brother he said Where have you lain him show me where you laid him so they go down to the tomb and Jesus says roll the stone away sister says whoa wait days oh it’s going to stink by now it has been four days I know he’s going to stink. Roll way the system and then John eleven forty three three forty four says now when he had said these things he cried out with a loud voice. Come forth and he who had died came out ballin hand and foot with grave clothes and his face was wrapped with cloth but Jesus said to them loose him and let him go you know all of these things are so amazing the the lame healed the dead raised up but here’s the truth every single person that Jesus healed from blindness eventually went on to die again every person that he healed from their lame condition they went on to eventually die again every person that healed of deafness one or two here to die to die at the here but the die again every person that Jesus raised from the dead even Lazarus he eventually went on WANT TO DIE AGAIN didn’t they all eventually died again Miracles are amazing they are for the glory of God They reveal God’s power and authority and being a recipient of a miracle though does not bring salvation does it being a recipient of a miracle does not bring eternal life my friends Jesus did not come just to heal he didn’t come to bring just a temporary fix to our physical or our spiritual problems he did not come to bring a temporary fix to the consequences of sin and what are the consequences of sin the separation of God and man he did not come to bring a temporary fix to that no he came to bring a permanent solution to the consequences of sin the Re Union of God and man in Luke nineteen verses nine and ten and Jesus said to them today salvation has come to this house because he also is a son of Abraham for the Son of Man did not come to see can say the Son of Man has come to see can say that which is lost he has come to seek and save that which is lost he came to reunite man with God and that would require the miracle of all miracles that miracle was Jesus Christ Himself taking our sins upon himself. First Peter chapter two verses twenty one three twenty four says for to this you were called because Christ also suffered for us leaving us an example that you should follow his steps who committed no sin Jesus Christ committed no sin nor was deceit found in his mouth who when he was reviled did not rebound return when he suffered he did not threaten but committed himself to him who judges righteously who himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree that we having died to sin might live for righteousness by His stripes you are healed brothers sisters he bore our sins in His own body or neck cruel cross on Calvary or scripture lesson begins with Matthew revealed in these words when evening had come what happens friends when evening comes what happens the sun goes down it gets dark it gets dark the light the sun begins to set down over the horizon the things that we had seen begin to fade away they fade away into the darkness we can’t see them anymore you know there’s one place that really reveals this if you’ve ever been on a cruise and if you’re out on the side of the balcony and you’re looking now I’m watching the sun set down over the horizon of the water when that sunsets down of course after it gets deeper and deeper you know it gets darker and darker but you look out over that vast ocean it is black dark you can’t see anything the sun is gone things get dark our sins darkness represents sins friends darkness represents sins and how appropriate that is Jesus Christ was dying upon a cross as our sins were placed upon him the darkness was coming over the earth and he descended into the grave our darkness our sin placed upon him descended into the grave. We see the light of the world the sun the light of the world the sun taking our darkness upon himself in messiahs sunset Everything fades away remember he took our sins so the past our old life our old simple life disappears our old sinful man fades away into the earth you see just as you can no longer see the things that your eyes want same when the light is gone God does not see our sins and the longer Christ took them to the grave he does not see our sins and the longer they have been buried with him that’s what it’s all about our sins buried with him or sins have been cast into the sea of forgetfulness there is the important thing that he took the sins of the entire world with him but the greatest miracle occurs when Jesus did not stay in the outer where that grave could not holding again our passage says as the day began to dawn so the sun began to rise up once again above the horizon there was another rising up as the sun S.-U. N. began to rise you can see things but when the S.-O. N. sun rose the women were there an angel said he is not here Priya is risen from the dead resurrection is the rise in the again to life of that which was once dead Jesus rose again to life and will never die again will never die again live free turn of life it is not a temporary thing but is eternal life this is the miracle that is available for all men this is the gift of God for all men. There is only one way that man can receive this amazing gift and that is to believe God’s only begotten Son There is no other way when which we can have eternal life but to believe in Jesus Christ for God so loved the world it gave His only begotten Son that whoever believe with in Him should not perish but have everlasting life my friends it is a great give you know I got to thinking about gift and I guess this is where Laura was speaking to me the other day so many people when today when I go to buy gifts for someone maybe I just I don’t know what they get the especially teenagers that hard to buy for you know you don’t know what to give them so you think wow I don’t know what size it where I don’t know what color they like I don’t know what style they like and of course even have a problem with women I’m not much of a shopper now Karen she knows what the buy but so many people have such a hard time figuring things out so that well let’s just get him a gift card it’s always the perfect size they can go get what they want the color they want the style they want you know you can get him a gift give a guy a gift card for a hardware store he says Fine I’ll go buy the tool that he wants give that teenager gift card for Wal-Mart Rams on the buy the clothes they want or the gadgets they want right but here’s the thing today in today’s society there are more than one hundred and thirty billion dollars worth of gift cards purchased every year one hundred thirty billion every year but here’s the shock there are over one billion dollars worth of gift cards every year that go one spent one billion that is not spent they do not use them they do not go to the store they do not get online in redeem their gift cards one billion dollars worth that’s a sad fact in to think that so much money left on spend my friends Christ the Lord died for our sins to greatest gift ever given God has redeemed mankind to himself for all who will believe how sad it is you think it said that one billion dollars worth of gift cards go and spend but how sad it is that the greatest gift ever given. It is often not redeemed how many people leave that gift go on reading how many people are unwilling to say Lord forgive me my sins because it’s the gift that you have to reach out and get you have to receive it you have to ask Christ to forgive your sins you have to ask him into your heart he does not force you to go in redeem it you have to redeem it yourself you have to ask him into your heart to day is today of salvation if you’re watching you don’t know the Lord Jesus Christ I ask you today asking the commend to your heart redeem that most precious gift ever given to mankind the gift of God’s Son Do not let it go and spend as a A sixty verse one says a rosin Schon for your light has come in the glory of the Lord is risen upon you and I want to read of the victory that we have in Jesus Christ from First Corinthians fifteen this is now this I say brother that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God nor does corruption inherit incorruption Behold I tell you a mystery we shall not all sleep but we shall all be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye at the Last Trumpet for the child but will sound in the dead will be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed for this corruptible must put on in corruption and this mortal must put on immortality so when this corruptible has put on incorruption and this mortal has put on immortality then so be brought to pass the saying that is written Death is swallowed up in victory death where is your staying over Hades where is your victory the sting of death the sin and the strength of sin is the law but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ my friends because he lives we can live because he rose up out of that grave we too will one day rise up out of that grave to spend eternity with Him when we receive. That greatest gift the miracle of all miracles the miracle that rose Jesus out of that grave to give him life and that miracle was through the power of the Holy Spirit that same spirit dwells within us won’t you receive him today won’t you give Him thanks in glory today for that wonderful gift that he gave a man or close in him as three sixty eight which speaks of what we just spoke of he lives.
