Psalms 33:8-22

Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. 9 For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. 10 The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. 11 The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance. 13 The LORD looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men. 14 From the place of His dwelling He looks On all the inhabitants of the earth; 15 He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works. 16 No king is saved by the multitude of an army; A mighty man is not delivered by great strength. 17 A horse is a vain hope for safety; Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength. 18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who hope in His mercy, 19 To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine. 20 Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. 21 For our heart shall rejoice in Him, Because we have trusted in His holy name. 22 Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us, Just as we hope in You.

My message is titled The day of the living rooms. The day that we was delivered from oppression that they weasel livered from double taxation or taxation upon taxation a day at the leverages Happy Birthday America. Amen. This flag the song the flag still stands for freedom is not just a song friends. This flag still stands for freedom does it not because we are here today freely worshipping our God We are not hidden in some basement or chip in a secret or when we drove here of our own accord. We got out we come into this building and we are freely worshipping our God on the day that we choose to worship how we choose to worship a man. So this flag does still stand for freedom and I pray that it always will. But this Cross also stands for freedom because we are free from our sins because of the price that Jesus paid upon a cross. So I have a subtitle Tunis freedom a day at the lever and some of my key talked is going to be that in freedom that we are free to praise God and I pray that we will never take that for granted. So I begin this morning with our scripture this morning this morning from Psalms thirty three verses eight through twenty two and this is a powerful passage of Scripture. The author is on. He wrote this but here the word of the Lord let all the earth fear the Lord let all the inhabitants of the world stand in all of him. I’m a pause. Let all the earth that all the inhabitants of the world. And in all of him and I was reading this and studying this and preparing and working on this you know we have the exam the earthly example of families and of fathers and mothers but you know the way God intended it was for the earthly fathers to imitate him to be the example to his children so that because you know that a young child young boy and a young girl if the father is the kind of father or kind of husband that they’re supposed to be they will love that family they will protect that family they will cherish that family and the children will stand in all of that father. So he is supposed to be setting the example of what the heavenly Father is like if you will. So one of the greatest problems in this nation is we don’t have the father set an example for the children to follow to know that we are to stand in awe of God They don’t have the honor of a father because they haven’t had the open example that we’re supposed to have. That’s probably one of the most or worst issues with our nation today because of too many families that don’t have a father in them. Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in all of them. If we were just in an all with him and know who he is I’ll continue because verse nine tells us who it is where to stand and all love for he spoke and it was done. He commanded and it stood fast. The Lord brings the counsels of the nations to nothing. He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsels of the Lord stand forever. The plans of his heart to all generations. My key verses this verse twelve bless it is the nation whose God is the Lord. Well as it is the nation whose God is the lord what Lord the one of the spoke of the Lord spoke and it was done the Lord said Let there be light and there was light. The Lord said let the sea bring for those creatures they make it very clear this this passage explains itself. It tells us who is the God the true God blesses a nation who whose god is little already created the heavens and the earth who is over all things. The people he has chosen as his own inheritance. The Lord looks from heaven. He sees all the sons of man from the place of his dwelling he looks on all the inhabitants of the earth. He fashions their hearts individually. He considers all their works. No king is saved by the multitude of an army. A mighty man is not delivered by great strength so there is no king on the face of this earth that is saved by the multitude of his vast army. It’s only by God A horse is a vain hope for safety. Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength. Behold the eyes the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him on those who hope in his mercy. Amen. As Gary said a man that the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him. Those who have a reverent fear of the Lord our God on those who hope in His mercy to deliver their souls from death and to keep them alive in famine. My friends that is the day of the leverage the true day of the levers as whenever we were delivered from death that we are kept alive Amen. I believe that God can keep us alive in a famine. He kept his of Israel alive many times during a famine. Verse twenty says our soul waits for the Lord. He is our help and our shield for our heart shall rejoice in her. Because we have trusted in his holy name. Let your mercy oh lord be upon us jest as we hope in you. And as I read that last sentence what came to my mind is the thought that we will be forgiven with the same measure that we forgive will we not. And I kind of get in this. Let your mercy oh lord be upon us just as we hope in you. We must have our hope that we have a great measure of faith. His mercy will be upon us as we hope in him. Amen. Independence Day Fourth of July or whatever you care to call it is a commemorating of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July fourth seven hundred seventy six seven hundred seventy six. Many many years ago how many years ago was that kids do your math. I’m not sure. Two hundred thirty some years ago declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain two hundred forty one. OK two hundred forty one. You know you are not to get into a long and history lesson but how many to thirty nine. Jane has a calculator. But you know America sought to be independent from Britain and it goes even deeper than just the taxation we got into why the taxation came about. The French and Indian War which Great Britain said was to protect America from Canadian French forces. But America says it was too for Britain to. There are power. So but Britain decided this was a very costly war. Somebody has got to pay for it and guess who they want to pay for it. The American colonies. We’re going to tax sugar we’re going to tax that we’re going to tax everything we can think of everything imaginable to get that money back and America says no no taxation without representation because they had no representation in Great Britain. So they said no. So they decided we will separate. So there was a great war that ensued the at the the right amount of our time speaking the Declaration of Independence. It’s considered the founding document of the United States is an act of the Second Continental crown. Congress adopted owns a law for seven hundred seventy six which declared that the thirteen colonies were free and independent states and that all political connection between them and the state of Great Britain is and not to be totally dissolved in it. Our founding fathers were very quick to acknowledge God as a source of our rights and they were wise not to separate God from the state. The placement of Judeo Christian values and biblical morality into our founding documents and laws was clearly intentional. Benjamin Rush one of the founding fathers said without religion there can be no virtue and without virtue there can be no liberty and liberty is the object of life and of all republican governments. The declaration begins with this when in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth. Or the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of Nature’s God entitle them. We have our leverage because God has given them to us. They say that we hold this truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights that among these are on this continuum what we’ve already discussed in a Sabbath school right. Among these are Life Liberty and the pursuit of happiness that to secure these rights governments are instituted among men deriding their just powers from the consent of the government that whenever any Form of Government becomes a destructive to these it becomes destructive of these ends. It is a right of the People to alter or to abolish it and to institute a new government laying its foundations on such principles and organizing its powers in sets form as to them shall see most likely to affect their safety and their happiness. We are government of the people and for the people they say they’re for the representatives of the United States of America in general Congress assembled appealing to the supreme judge of the world for their restitute of our intentions and for the support of this declaration with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence we mutually pledge to each other our lives our fortunes and our sacred honor. Whenever you look at the history not everybody in the thirteen colonies not all of the the leaders were in favor of separation of Great Britain. They say that one third were in favour of separation. One third were in favour of remaining loyal to Great Britain and one third just didn’t care one way or the other. So they had the task of trying to convince these other two thirds to go along. I’m with them to declare their independence. It’s not an easy battle. It was a battle that was fought in the end not the halls of Congress and not on the battlefield too. It was a great effort by many men and I praise God that our founding fathers had the foresight to write the things they did in the Declaration of Independence that would carry on for the years to come. So if we don’t like our government we can vote in change or government. We still have that in which to have the religious freedoms we still have the freedom of speech today and I pray that we always will. I have no doubt that the majority of our founding fathers were godly men because you can see God’s morals and ideals woven into the Declaration of Independence. The fact that they claim that all men were created equal equal declares a day to believe that there was a creator that we didn’t evolve but we were created by God and we were created equal in Acts chapter ten. So then Peter opened his mouth and said Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons but in every nation he that fear of him and work with righteousness is accepted with Him God is no respecter of persons. All men are created equal. That’s in our Declaration of Independence and neither should we be a respecter of persons. The very freedoms that enable us to do the things we do. As we talked in savage Gore Nabl some people do things that we don’t like. Our freedoms allow some people to do things that may not necessarily line with God’s Word but they. Now the freedom to do it. They make that choice they may not always agree with God’s Word but they make that choice. The word respect remains one who shows favoritism or partiality and God is no respecter of persons. Our founding fathers knew this. Moving on with a little bit more of the history Thomas Jefferson said this on November twenty ninth. Quote Believe me dear sirs there is not in the British Empire a man who morally cordially loves a union with Great Britain than I do but by the God that made me I will cease to exist before I yield to a connection on such terms as a British parliament proposes and in this I think I speak the sentiments of America. He was willing to be that small percentages. I will stand. I will stand and fight. He loved Britain but he did not like the things that they proposed. One of the greatest persons we have in this nation is that we we have the opportunity to pursue life to pursue liberty to pursue happiness. We had the freedom to choose and yes we can try to convince others to believe the way we believe to believe in the one true God that they might stand in awe of him but they have the freedom to say no that’s a God given right. God created man breathed life into him put him in the garden says Now you can choose. We have to for others the same right. It’s about choice. Choice is freedom. That’s what so many hate about America. There are those who would like to oppress people those who would like to dictate what you can and can’t do. That’s why many burn a flag that stands for freedom because they don’t like that we have that freedom but that freedom came with a price didn’t that freedom came with a great price. Many. She had their blood to afford us the freedoms that we have today in this country. But I’m fearful that many have not known or have forgotten the great sacrifice that was paid that we can have the freedoms we have in this country. We need to remind them that there was a sacrifice made that we had the freedom to choose and it was a great price paid for our freedom from our sin also. And that was the blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God that we can be set free. Luke four says so he came to Nazareth already been brought up and as his custom was he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read and he was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah and when he had opened the book he found the place where it was written. The spirit of the Lord is upon me because he is unknown to me to preach the Gospel to the poor he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted to proclaim liberty to the captives to proclaim liberty to set them free and recovery of sight to the blind to set at liberty those who are oppressed to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord then he closed the book and gave it back to the Tenet and sat down and the eyes of all who were in a synagogue were fixed on him and he began to say them to them today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. He came to set us free. Today this scripture is fulfilled today. This scripture is fulfilled. He can heal your broken heart. He can give sight to the blind. He can deliver those who are oppressed. The greatest of all he can deliver us from our sense that which is eternal. He has taken care of. We can have eternal life through Jesus Christ through the blood that is shed on that cross. Much blood was shed for our liberties but most importantly the liberty that we have in Jesus Christ. So I’m seventy nine verse nine says Help us oh God of our salvation for the glory of your name and deliver us and provide atonement for our sins for your name’s sake. He has provided atonement for sins and the second Timothy Chapter two verses twenty fourth or twenty six and a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all able to teach patient and humility correcting those who are in opposition. If God perhaps will grant them repentance so that they may know the truth and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil. Having been taken captive by him to do His will that is our work to correct them if possible to lead them to God to show them the one true God that they might stand in awe of him that they may repent and they may know the truth that they may escape the snare and be set free from the devil be set free. Freedom. One July fourth eighteen twenty one John Quincy Adams the clay or the highest glory of the American revolutions of the revolution was this it connected one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity. From the day of the the heaven from the day of the Declaration Day the American people were bound by the laws of God and by the laws of the gospel which they nearly all acknowledge as a rules of their conduct are we acknowledge in them to day as our rules of conduct. Have mercy on us. God have mercy upon this nation. May the peoples of this nation may that be our prayer today this Fourth of July that we this nation would turn our eyes back to God we can expect the blessings of God to continue to pour out upon this nation when we’ve turned our backs on him that he handed me this morning whose God is the Lord God isn’t welcome in our public institution these days. Not until the next crisis. Trouble does that to people with security or health a threat and we turn to God for help when good times return. What do we do. We ignore God The Bible says this pattern has been in place ever since people live. We avoid God until we are in trouble. The Bible has a word for that. It’s called sin. We ignore God in His commandments at our peril. Most of the nation’s problems are rooted in our choice to ignore God and he does or and his desire for how we should live. Bible says that God is going to have the last word when our nation he will destroy us if we continue in our sin. The Bible clearly shows that he has done it to many other nations throughout history. It goes on. God longs for us to repent. There is still hope for this nation. We still have life so there’s still hope. As long as we still have life still have breath then as there is still hope that we as a nation could repent that we as a nation would turn our hearts toward God not just in times of calamity or trouble or famine or whatever may come upon us but in the good times that we may turn our hearts to him. Him Lord of our lives always every day. That should be our prayer every day because the greatest blessing we can have is God’s presence in our lives not the material things but him in our lives. His protection his deliverance His guidance in our lives are we willing to turn from our sin and surrender completely to him surrender to him that we can have the freedom the freedom that he wants us to have. That’s the living from the bondage of sin. Amen.
