John 4:1-26 (NLT)

Jesus knew the Pharisees had heard that he was baptizing and making more disciples than John 2 (though Jesus himself didn’t baptize them—his disciples did). 3 So he left Judea and returned to Gal-ilee. 4 He had to go through Samaria on the way. 5 Eventually he came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime. 7 Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw wa-ter, and Jesus said to her, “Please give me a drink.” 8 He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food. 9 The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?” 10 Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.” 11 “But sir, you don’t have a rope or a bucket,” she said, “and this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water? 12 And besides, do you think you’re greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his animals enjoyed?” 13 Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. 14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” 15 “Please, sir,” the woman said, “give me this water! Then I’ll never be thirsty again, and I won’t have to come here to get water.” 16 “Go and get your husband,” Jesus told her. 17 “I don’t have a husband,” the woman replied. Jesus said, “You’re right! You don’t have a husband— 18 for you have had five husbands, and you aren’t even married to the man you’re living with now. You certainly spoke the truth!” 19 “Sir,” the woman said, “you must be a prophet. 20 So tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Je-rusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim, where our ancestors worshiped?” 21 Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. 23 But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. 24 For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” 25 The woman said, “I know the Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” 26 Then Jesus told her, “I AM the Messiah!”

2 Kings 17:7-12

7 For so it was that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and they had feared other gods, 8 and had walked in the statutes of the nations whom the LORD had cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made. 9 Also the children of Israel se-cretly did against the LORD their God things that were not right, and they built for themselves high places in all their cities, from watchtower to fortified city. 10 They set up for themselves sacred pillars and wooden images on every high hill and under every green tree. 11 There they burned incense on all the high places, like the nations whom the LORD had carried away before them; and they did wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger, 12 for they served idols, of which the LORD had said to them, “You shall not do this thing.”

Jer. 23:23-24

“Am I a God near at hand,” says the LORD, “And not a God afar off? 24 Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the LORD; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the LORD.

John 7:37-39

37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

You know God wants us to be filled he doesn’t want us to be empty he doesn’t want our spiritual man to be empty he wants it to be filled with His Spirit fill mock up Lord fill it up great job again with pick in the song she always does such a wonderful job he does want to fill us up he wants to fill us with his love he wants to fill it with peace that passes all understanding he wants to fill us with his kindness he wants of filth through us with his knowledge with all that he has for us he wants us to be filled with him with his spirit drink of the living water and I’m going to be speaking again from the John chapter for us again because I know over the years of preach from that book in chapter probably of quite a few times because a such a wonderful message Jesus speaking with the woman at the well. Going to be reading from the New Living Translation he did get at John chapter 4 it is a little bit of a long reading but here the word of the Lord Jesus knew the fair sea’s had heard that he was baptizing and making more disciples than John though Jesus himself did not baptize them his disciples did so he left you Delia and returned to Galilee he had to go through some area on the way eventually he came to the Samaritan village of sick car near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph Jacob’s well was there and Jesus tired from a long walk sat where Lee beside the well about noon time soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water and Jesus said to her please give me a drink. He needs a drink and he’s fill mock up please give me a drink he was alone at the time because the disciples had gone into the village to buy some food the woman was surprised for Jews refused to have anything to do with Samaritan’s she said to Jesus you are a Jew and I am a Samaritan Well it’s kind of like I’ve been accused of that stating the obvious sometimes the wife like yeah that is obvious I mean yes you are a Jew and I was Samaritan So you see stating the obvious to him I’m a Samaritan woman why are you asking me for a drink Jesus replied If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to you would ask me and I would give you living water but sir you don’t have a rope or a bucket she said and this well is very deep where would you get this living water and besides do you think that you are greater than our ancestor Jacob who gave us this well how can you offer better water than he and his sons and his animals enjoy Jesus replied Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again but those who drink the water that I give will never be thirsty again it becomes a fresh bubbling spring within them giving them eternal life please sir the woman said give me this water that I will never be thirsty again and I won’t have to come here to draw water go and get your husband Jesus told her I don’t have a husband the woman replied Jesus said you’re right you don’t have a husband. For you have had 5 husbands and you’re even Mair and you aren’t even married to the man you’re living with now we kind of thought that was a modern problem didn’t we it wasn’t it was a problem thousands of years ago you certainly spoke the truth sir the woman said You must be a prophet so tell me why is it that you Jews insist that Drusilla is the only place of worship while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount them where as ancestors worshiped Jesus replied Believe me dear woman the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem you Samaritans know very little about the one you worship while we Jews know all about Him for salvation comes from the Jews but the time is coming indeed it’s here now when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth the father is looking for those who will worship him that way for God is Spirit so those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth the woman said I know the Messiah is coming the one who is called Christ when He comes He will explain everything to us then Jesus told her I am the Messiah how. They got at his blessing so they hear it in the reading of His Holy Word What an amazing thing her standing there knowing say the Messiah is going to come and when he gets here he’s going to explain it all to us. And he’s a want to stand right before how the what an amazing thing let us pray more we thank you and praise you for your presence in the world Lord Jesus we know that you’re at the right hand of the Father but we know you sent the Holy Spirit to dwell with us to deal well with each of us for each one of us a call out to you can receive that blesses spirit we thank you for that we thank you that you guide us and direct us and Father may your spirit guide us today May every word spoken be for your glory in your honor or may it edify you in Jesus’ name amen. What an amazing thighs you just scripture Jesus interaction with this Samaritan woman by the well as I’ve said I know I’ve preached on it probably a couple times anyway and you know one thing that jumped out at me this time Jesus knew that the fair cities had heard and he was baptized into making more disciples of course it was his disciples on the baptizing not him but making more disciples then John the Baptist and his disciples and you know I wonder as I’ve read this could this have played a role in why Jesus was going to leave Galilee or Judea and go on to Gotta leave because of this thing that the fair sees new because we all know if you’ve read the Bible just a little bit you know the fair seas were continuously trying to discredit Jesus they were trying to trap Jesus trying to find some way to stir up for trouble for Jesus and the disciples I mean they wanted to we know they wanted to get rid of him so I can imagine the disciple or the therapy’s rather trying to instill some competition if you will between John’s disciples and Jesus’ disciples trying to stir up a little trouble there. John knew that he had to decrease John the Baptist said I must decrease and he must increase I don’t believe they would have been successful because John knew that and I’m in no way insinuating that Jesus would have backed down from the fair seas because there are plenty of scripture where he confounded the bear sees and the scribes want to Cajun they asked him a question he said Well I’m not going to answer to you answer my question I’ll enter yours he said the baptism of John was it of God or was it of men well they would natural because they knew that the man everyone thought highly of John so they knew that it was a it was a lose situation so he confounded them often it could be that Jesus decided to go from Judea to Galilee because he knew that he had divine appointment with the Samaritan woman by a well. That is pretty sure that he knew he knew he knows all things that he had a divine appointment that day and he would spend a couple days there in that village after his conversation with the woman so in His mercy He was extending his grace unto the some people of Samarian the Samaritans who were the Samaritans Why were they so despised by the Jews Well some area of course is just a region is to northern region here in Israel and they called them Samaritans because they lived in that region. Was the area that belonged to Efrem and a half drive Manesar in the northern region of Israel so when the 10 tribes were carried away captive to a Syria the King of Assyria invaded Israel and they took many of the Israelites captive into Assyria but they left some of the people of Israel. They left some there and carried away a portion of them so after they came remove the people from some area he brought in people from KUSA Ava Hamas and suffer of them to inhabit some area so he brought these foreigners in to the area of some area to live amongst those that he did leave of the Israelites So eventually you can find this account of 2nd Kings Chapter 17 these foreigners began to enter Mary with the Israelites that were left there in that region so it resulted in a mixed race of people they were considered impure by the Jews of the southern region. And the reason that that the King of Assyria brought these foreigners in was to help prevent a rebellion because he thought well if I don’t bring some of my people when they might all band together in rebel against me so he brings them in to prevent that from happening in the future why did God allow the results to be carried away into Assyria again we know it’s because of unfaithfulness we can redo this unfaithfulness and 2nd Kings were so it was that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt and they had feared other gods that means that they were following after other gods we just finished up the 10 Commandments. Thou shall have no other gods before the You shall not make any graven images so Israel had feared other gods besides the one true God had walked in the statutes of the nations whom the Lord had cast out from before the children of Israel and of the kings of Israel which they had made also the children of Israel secretly did against the Lord their God things that were not right and they built for the themselves high places in all their cities from Watchtower to fortified city they set up for themselves sacred pillars and wooden images on every high hill and under every green tree things for a bitten by God don’t set up your sacred pillars don’t set up your wooden images there they bear burned incense on the high places like the nation soon the Lord had carried away before them and they did wicked things to provoke the Lord to anger for they served idols of which the Lord had said to them you shall not do this thing God will only bear with the sins of the nation for so long then he will allow them to be carried away captive or be destroyed whatever he will only bear with them so long God help our nation he will only bear so long may we once again be a nation that honors and serve the one true God the nation of Samarium after the king of Assyria sent his people in there they started having all kinds of problems they had lions that were Roman through the region given the people all kinds of trouble so the people that the king had sent in the foreigners. They worshipped many gods so they thought to themselves or thought knew that this trouble was upon them because they had committed to a land them were not following the God of that land so they unnerve thinking thought this is why we’re having this trouble so they sent for a Jew East priest that had been taken captive into Assyria to common instruct them in the Jewish religion so they were instructed from the Book of Moses the problem was they were still following their adulterous ways so they thought they could follow Judaism but also continue in her daughter’s ways have their idols and their Assura poles and all the other false gods because the Israelites and have the Israelite inhabitants this Mera in a married with the foreigners and adopted their I dos religion the Samaritans were considered half breeds they were despised greatly by the Jews the woman at the well she knew that they were despise she asked Jesus why why would you even ask me why are you even talking to me you know we know that Jews have no dealings whatsoever with us Americans we are hated She was amazed that he even asked her a question as a matter of fact if she would have walked up and he would have just turned his back in the north or she thought that’s the way Jews treat us Samaritans right she would have thought nothing of it because that’s the way they were treated so she was shocked were amazed that he even spoke a word to her as curve a drink there are so many lessons in this passage Jesus resting there was disciples went into town the buy food he told them he was tired. He’s going to someone to sit here and rest a while you go buy food as again I said he had a divine appointment he was weary from his journey that fact reveals to me he was truly a man that is significant brothers and sisters he was truly a man he was not some super being that didn’t get TIRED TO didn’t get where he lived as a man he experienced the things that we experience he experienced tiredness and fatigue he was tempted in all the ways that we could be tempted but yet he was without sin and he was a man the fact that this reveals that he was truly man and yet was without sin is the greatest miracle volves spoke a miracle this morning he was not a miracle because he is God He is divine but yet it was fully man he meant he had to be that perfect sacrifice for our sins it reveals that he is no respecter of persons he was willing to talk with that woman that would have been shunned by most why I hope you know the reason why because he was concerned for her soul. He was concerned for her soul his gift of living water was for all. All who receive it drink of the living water my friends we should do the same Our concern should be for the Souls of all that we meet I don’t care what color they are I don’t care what nationality they are we should be concerned for their soul. I don’t want one so to go to hell. Or to be separated from God I want to come to know Jesus Christ I want them to drink of the living water Jesus as if Jesus is concerned for her soul when every soul ought not we also be yes we should. The Samaritan woman would get away from the living water for a minute did not know who to worship where to worship or even how to worship but Jesus is very clear the true worship her will worship in spirit and in truth only those who have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who obey the truth can worship God in a manner that is acceptable to him in a manner that is pleasing on to God and yet when we believe in Him we can freely receive that Holy Spirit worship in Hebrew is SHA ha that means to bow down to prostate oneself before another in order to do him honor and reverence So we are to bow down before God to reverence Him Their mode of reverence would be to fall upon her knees and touch her forehead to the ground in the Greek it’s Prashant prosecutor no to kiss the hand as a token of reverence and to also fall prostates before the one to show an honor to why must we worship in spirit and truth because God is Spirit God is not a physical being limited to one place God is present everywhere and he can be worshiped anywhere any time. Where we worship is not as important as how we worship if something happened to our building today we could still gather together we could gather in the parking lot and worship we could gather together your home and worship we can worship God anywhere where the spirit of the Lord is he is and we can worship in truth. Jeremiah 2322 through 24 says and my God near at hand says the Lord and not a god of far off can anyone hide himself in secret places so I shall not see him says the Lord do I not fill heaven and earth says the Lord yes he does he fills heaven and earth you can go nowhere that to hide from God is your worship genuine is your worship true is your worship led by the Holy Spirit answer those sell those questions for yourselves use your worship led by the Holy Spirit the Holy Spirit is or helper or strength Jesus said in John 1415 through 18 if you love me keep my commandments and I will pray the Father and He will give you another Helper that you may abide that he may abide with you forever the Spirit of truth whom the word cannot receive because it neither sees him nor knows him but you know him for he dwells with you and will be in you my friends you know him he will be in you he says I will not leave you orphans I will come to you he says I will come to you in the form of the Holy Spirit. There are so many areas in our lives that the Holy Spirit will help us in Romans 826 Likewise the spear helps in our weakness for we do not know what we should pray for as we ought but the spirit in self makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be altered. He will even help us to pray we don’t know the words to pray if you rely and trust on the Holy Spirit and he lead you to pray for somebody don’t worry he will give you the words to say don’t worry that they may not sound so eloquent as maybe someone else you’ve heard pray but you just praise the spirit leads that trust in him and John 1426 but the helper the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name will teach you all things and bring to you remembers all things that I said to you he will teach you every time we open up this word before you begin pray Holy Spirit teach me something Today Show me what you want me to understand today the Holy Spirit tells us that we are loved by God Therefore worshipping God should be as natural as anything we do you are loved by God Now let’s tie this worshiping in the living water together what the Jesus mean when he spoke of the living water in chapter 4 he said to her if you knew the gift of God and who it was who says to you give me a drink you would have asked him and he would have given you living water Jesus did not say that he was a living water he said that he would give her the living water and when she received it she would never thirst again where then could she get this living water work and we get this living water that Jesus speaks of John 73739 Jesus is in the temple surrounded by many people on the last day that great day of the feast Jesus stood and cried out saying if anyone thirst let him come to me and drink he who believes in me as a scripture A said out of his heart will flow rivers of living water but this he spoke concerning the spirit. As you catch at this he spoke concerning the Spirit the Holy Spirit was the come the 3 or one so it’s him but it’s a spear his spear in us whom those believing in Him would receive for the Holy Spirit was not yet given because Jesus was not yet glorified my friend do you believe one Jesus Christ if you believe in him when you believe in Him you receive His Spirit the Holy Spirit within you that is the living water His Spirit in us the refreshing that is to come to the speared has as I said he doesn’t want us to be empty he wanted us he wants us to be filled filled with that living water bubbling out of us every day we’re not supposed to destroy supposed to just take it in and keep it for ourselves it’s to flow out of us to bubble out of us all Tao all the time I just want to know wow but it’s to bubble out of us the Holy Spirit is the living water it is the external influence of the spear that works in and through us if you knew if you only knew the gift that God has for you that’s what we can share with many everybody we could share that word with we could share with the Samaritans in our lives there’s many Samaritans out there if you only knew the gift that God has for you remember Jesus drawled out her sins revealed to her her sins. So that she would know that she needed saved but then he revealed his love to her and that’s what we’re to do we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God But if you know the gift that God has for you that living water no less I didn’t bring it up in the joy because I wanted to share here last week we went to the nursing home. Then on Sunday last Sunday Saturday we had the board you know our church meeting and sometimes you get you know we’re discussing the outreach of the church and are we doing all that we can do with all that we should do and trying to think of other ministries that we as a church body can do and wondering well you know we go to the nursing home every month or we really effective there in our we reach and people well Sunday was the most amazing service because of the spirit of Lord there that I’ve ever witnessed there ever experienced there Karen had a similar because I see want to say that there was a Sunday a while sometime ago that she went but I didn’t but in the middle of the service I was preaching the same message I had last last week here for you all and it was talking about the judgment and how God’s enemies will flee the melt away like wax in the middle of preachin. On nice little lady called sig interrupted she says now if you did something wrong can we can things be made right you know she started I’m like and I explained to her from scripture that yes we repent and we believe in Jesus Christ and were forgiven and then preached a little bit more she asked another question asked about well what about our bodies you know what will they be raised and so up God I just pulled a piano over the piano Stillwell set down open a Bible another started asking questions she was asking questions we were talking about the glorified body and tell him those people there what a wonderful place of Tellme there will be no wheelchairs in heaven there will be no crutches in heaven there will be no cancer in heaven there will be no any kind of the z’s in heaven there will be no but one guys are blind because of diabetes or will be no blindness in heaven I mean it was amazing the God opened a door there I want a way so blessed why not because of me because the Holy Spirit showed up and God through me poured out HIS living water to these wonderful folks my friends that’s what we need to do so I came away I think God knew I needed that he did he knew that I needed that to know that this ministry is wonderful when it’s working it’s important not just me the church we went there was a church body Barbara was there were Center was there care Maziar and everybody played a part in that watch because you was there your spirit was there we were singing with them it was such a wonderful experience God using us as the vessel for HIS living water. And when I got when we finally got done because it was quite long. Because it got it was there was it’s good they just kept asking questions we kept trying answers we kept mantra when I got done the little girl that brings all the people when a name is Cheyenne. I went to her I said I’m sorry we took a little longer today I said I don’t know if it’s messing with your plans because I don’t apologize please don’t apologize she goes I was hoping a Jew would just keep on going on she said because you guys interact with them you take time for them I’m not speaking against others but she told me she said others will come she goes they’ll sit right up on that bench and all this set there with the stare in arise so they get up and sing a couple songs and they go she said that’s what they do she said but you guys use Thanks so much time with them you sing with them you pray with them you share with them you talk with them you communicate with them that’s what they need to know that the church cares enough to take time for them. I don’t need to add anything to that that’s what our neighbors need to know that we take time for them that we care about them that we are concerned for their soul as Jesus was concerned for the soul with this American woman help us to share that living water drink of that living water but share with others it’s not just for you a man share that living water with all that comes into your being into your realm if you will a man.
