But I feel his day with Sharon or there’s a couple things in my sermon that really just tirade in with what he said. Lose the pig pen mindset now you’re wondering what in the world he talking about I want to give you one clue on what to be preaching about the prodigal son. Maybe that will give you a clue. But this pig pen mindset is to come back to come the Lord and still have that pig pen mindset and I’m going to explain a little further. But David said he went with authority you’re going to see how that ties in with talk about Earth’s morning and he said how much is it in the Met. They’d look at him as a king I would do it is hard to say. Kingship. On the mantel. You’re going to. I hope I can show you how. I hope I hope you’ll see how this ties in with what I’m going to share this morning. So we need to lose that pig pen mindset. Luke Chapter fifteen verses twenty three verses eleven through twenty four and I will try to make this abbreviated version this morning. Hear the word of the Lord here. If I don’t get it done that’s right. Then he said a certain man had two sons and the younger of them said to his father Father give me the portion of all portion of goods that falls to me. So he divided them his livelihood in not many days after the younger son gathered all together journeyed to a far country and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living but when he had spent all there arose a severe famine in the land and he began to be in want. Then he went and joined himself to assist citizen of that country and he sent him into the fields to feed swine and he would gladly have filled a stomach with the pods that the swine ate and no one gave him anything. But when he came to him self he said how many of my father’s hire. Servants have bread enough to spare and I perish with hunger. I will rise and go to my father and I will say to him Father I have sinned against heaven and before you and I am no longer worthy to be called your son make me like one of your hired servants. And he arose and came to a saw there but when he was still a great way off his father saw him and had compassion and he ran and he fell on these neck and kissed him and the son said to him Father I have sinned against heaven and in your sight I am no longer worthy to be called your son but the father said to the servants Bring out the best robe and put it on him put a ring on his hand and sandals only street and bring the fatted calf here and kill it and let us eat and be merry for this son of mine was dead and is alive again he was lost and is found. And they began to be merry. You know this passage right here is probably one of the most Pers cites examples of what the Kingdom of God is like what the kingdom is like and what it means to repent and come back to the Lord. This passage there are so many lessons here there’s a lesson of compassion how the father had compassion on the Son there’s a lesson of repentance because that is the absolute very first step is repentance. There’s a message of rejoicing in this passage but I want to look at a little bit different here this morning than what we may have. I know I’ve used this passage before but it’s not the same message a little bit different than what we’ve looked at we know in this parable that Jesus is telling this is Jesus telling this parable. So there’s no wonder it’s for sites that we know that the that the father here represents God the Father in this passage represents god so therefore the place where the son requested it was requested his lottery or you know his inheritance. So we know that the place that he left was a kingdom of God. It was the kingdom that he left because everything there because this whole passage is representing the kingdom of God So he left the kingdom the place where all was provided for every need was there he was cared for there was protection there. But he decided I want to lead. I want he longed for something different. He longed for more you know I think what this just crazy or didn’t crazy because we see people every day that have so much they have all their heart’s desire but yet they seem unhappy. We see people every day thinking that grass is greener on the other side of the fence in many different areas whether it be in marriages rather be and just and there are a lot of the grass always looks greener on the other side. Well let me tell you what’s on the other side of the fence is famine because the story reveals what’s on the other side of that fence and it’s famous you know men has been men have been longing for more from the very beginning. Look at Adam and Eve because you can see a resemblance of this story and the story of Adam and Eve They long for what they were not supposed to have. They long for that forbidden fruit. They were deceived into thinking that they would be like God. What. While deception because they were already like God weren’t they. They were already like God The Devil deceived them into thinking they could be like God when it was already like him they were already the Son and Daughter of God They enjoyed fellowship with God They were right there with God they fellowship with Him every day. So you can see the similarities with this prodigal son he was with a father he had fellowship with him but he longed for that which was forbidden what he was not supposed to have. God made. I’m a native rulers of the earth you might be saying oh wait a minute. I sure about dead. He made them rulers. This is the work God said God said Let Us make man in our image and in our likeness so you see that they were already like God let us make man in our image in our likeness and let them roll over the fish of the sea in the birds of the air and over the livestock and over all the earth not just the fish and the birds and the cattle but over all the earth over all the creatures that move on the ground that’s Genesis one twenty six. So they had authority they had rulership over all the earth they had dominion over the earth. Man was designed to roll. Now listen not rule one another. That’s not what I’m saying here that’s not the way God designed us to rule one another but to rule the earth when that whenever God gave them that the minion He was established in the law to give them the legal authority to rule the earth all that is on the earth. So when Adam and Eve disobeyed God what happened. They got cast out of that kingdom didn’t they they lost that authority that God had given them. They lost that authority by allowing themselves to be deceived. They surrendered the ruling authority bomb here they surrendered their authority the rulers became the role of the victors became the victims in a set of B. in the princes the prince and the princess. They became servants when they left that kingdom they were living in the pig pen if you will because look at what God had prepared for them and look at the results of what happened because of their sin. Go out there and work the fields today and you’ll see what I mean. Because prior to the fall there was no weeds to deal with there was no the insects and insects to deal with there. Not at this farm in today’s like working in the pig pen. Because of the Fall of Man The Prodigal Son willingly willingly left the kingdom of the father he willingly left. He had fallen to the point where he was working in the pig pen you know so many today only look to satisfy that present day lust. They look at all these temporal things and they long for them that prodigal son had no concern about the future. All he was concerned about was satisfying the lust of the eyes if I would just throw this to modern day times. He went and spent all we had with probably drinking gambling wild women you name it I could go on and on. He wasted all he had. He one of the sprouted wings and fly didn’t it. But what did he find it quickly faded away and it was a famine that’s what’s on the other side of that fence. He wanted to be free from his father watching over him. I want to be free from all the disciplinary things that his father said in place they want to be free from that. Well I don’t know about you but I praise God that he’s always watching over me I don’t want to be free from it. I want to be under his authority under his protection. The father just let him go didn’t the father didn’t go chasing after him. Heeding tell him No you can’t. He didn’t go driving back home did he willingly just let him go because you give him his own free will to choose the same way you give Adam and Eve the free will to choose to obey or not eat of the tree. Give us our free will but you know what the sun finally came to its senses. It came to his senses and he realize I’m done here I’m going to die of starvation. What was the very first action when he came to the sentence. Census repentance repentance is the very first step you know you couldn’t come back to his dad and say God I mean Dad that represents God then I blew it all. I need some more. Can I have some more. No he had to repent. There was true repentance and he’s hard. He says I have sinned against heaven I have sinned against you bother of sin against King. We know by the father’s reactions that he never once stopped loving that son. He was out there watching for and watching for him to come back and I know that the father that parable represents God because He knew the heart as soon as he seen us on coming he knew the heart he knew that he had repented. He went fell on his neck and kissed him. You know God will allow any of us to make our own bad choices if we will if we want to if we choose to but I might tell you right now he still loves us just as that father still love that Sunny still loves us still loves us. We make those bad choices. They may not approve of it. He may not wink at it but he does still love us but we must repent. We cannot come back to the father and bring our sins with us we can expect him to accept them. We need to repent. Here’s a problem I think where many people make a mistake today even once they have repented of their sins and they’ve said Father forgive me Lord. Forget me come into my heart. We came into the church but we remain like that servant. Now don’t get me wrong. We are to be servants of the Lord. I need to explain how I mean servant. We remain in the pig pen. We remain in the pig pen and not necessarily even me in our sins. The prodigal son is a good example. He came back to the Father and he say and just let me be a servant. Just let me go out and work the fields you know I was starving to death over there I know that you have bread here father. He repented but what did the father do. What did the father do. He said no no no. Bring out a ring and put it on his hand put a ring on his hand what does that ring represent what does it signify. What does a king’s ring signify. Of a man I don’t know that somebody knew it it represents authority. Put a ring on his finger. My son was dead now he’s alive he comes back he had to leave that pig pen mindset because he is no longer a servant he has authority. He put the ring the back on his hand that he had before if you will. He regained that authority he is the son of the king. Amen. You see where I’m going with this. We are to be servants but we we need to have the mindset that I am a son of the Living God I am the son of the God who created the heavens and the earth and I have authority to put a ring on his hand. Then what did he do next. Well actually the ring might have been second. First he said bring a rope. Put the Roebourne. What does that mean. Bring out the best robe. Let me explain. What I think it means and the Lord gave us To me it’s the robe of righteousness she’s taken the notes before I even speak it. It’s the robe of righteousness bring out there. This represents this whole parables about the Kingdom of God bring out the best robe and put it on him that is the robe of righteousness. He says in Revelations three five He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garment and I will blot out his name from the Book of Life. But I will confess his name before my father and before angels. He said you’re not coming back in here to be a servant you’re my son you have repented you have been restored. You have the authority church and you have been clothed in righteousness when you had accepted Jesus Christ and then he said bring out the sandals the put on its feet that we may walk for him a man that we may walk a godly life that we may walk and take his word to those that need to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So we have the sandals on our feet we have the road to righteousness upon us and we have that authority. David said I am not afraid because I went in the authority of a man. Thank you David. We need to go in the authority that we have we need to lose that pig pen mentality and realize whose we are. We need to know who we are in Jesus Christ. We can have the authority over that which the devil brings upon us in our lives. Satan has no power no authority over you church. Yes before you come back to the father you may not of had that authority but you now have it. When Jesus Christ died on a cross when he rose from that grave that which was done away with whenever Adam any sin was made right it has been restored. You have the authority over anything the devil brings against you you can have authority over lust just rebuke in the name of Jesus you can have authority over anybody you can have authority over anything the devil drives deceive you with it because you are a son of the king. You have that ring upon your hand upon you amen. Whenever you repent you have that authority. So many people today feel I’m just not good enough. I’m not worthy I’m not strong enough I’m not smart enough I’m not a good leader OK let’s stop it. Walkin out authority that you’ve been given. Be bold in the Lord overcome that Pig-Pen mentality and say I’m no longer there I’m not wallow in it any longer because I am a son of the king. You know we know that he’s called the King of Kings and in one sense that means he is a king over every king upon this earth. But if we are sons of God then what are we going to be king of kings as in little kings. You and me. Royal priest Amen. We had dominion over the earth. We need to walk in it we need to walk in that authority. Now I’m not saying to walk in an authority I don’t mean that we need to walk around with some big old fat arrogant attitude. Do do you think you can understand it you need to humbly walk with the authority because Jesus set the example. He had authority. They had never seen anyone teach with the authority that he taught with. But yet look at the humbleness of Jesus Christ. He is our example is example that we need to follow. One more thing affirmative brief. There was one verse straight before my passage and I didn’t read it. After he put the ring on his hand the robe morning sandals only see what he say. Bring out the fatted calf. We’re going to have a party. Why. Because his son was dead he was dead. He was outside the perimeters of the kingdom he was dead. If he would not have repented and returned to the father he would have endured eternal punishment because he was dead. Everyone that’s outside of the Kingdom of God have no hope they have no hope. But my Bible tells me in Luke Chapter fifteen first ten. It says Likewise I say to you there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents my friends every time a sinner repents. God says bring out the fatted calf. You really that you see that today bring out the fatted calf every time we the angels rejoice every time we can help lead a sinner to the salvation of the angels Angels rejoice. They bring out the fatted calf. That’s why this passage illustrates what the Kingdom of God is like. There’s rejoicing in heaven lets people in him let’s walk in the authority that God has given us that has reached me he has restored us amen and then God be with our closing.
