Maybe the need of it or maybe a better pray this month to work someone steadfast in prayers not the one that only goes to God when things are going wrong theyneed him they need help. That’s not steadfast in prayer steadfast in praises not one who praises him once every other week. So the best way to see whatsteadfast is so look as what it not as what it is not. It is someone that does these things if you practice them you do them often. Do you praise him often. Do youpray to him often. Do you worship Him often are you steadfast in the war
when you think of praise. I asked this question of there which book of the Bible comes to your mind when you think of pray to him or turn it into a Bible study towhich book comes to your mind when you think of the word great
songs songs songs. Why because a book of songs is known as The Book of praise. It gives us hundreds and hundreds of reasons why praise is important andexamples as well as examples of praise how we should praise him. So that is why my scriptures this morning the first couple anyway are Psalms songs thirty fourverses one three wait
I will bless the Lord at all times it doesn’t say I will bless the Lord some of the times but I will bless the Lord at all times his praise shop continually be in my mouthmy soul shall make its boast in the Lord. The humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt his name together. I sought theLord and He heard me and deliver me from all my fears. They look. To him and were radiant and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out and theLord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord in can surround all those who fear him and they and the liver’s them taste and see thatthe Lord is good bless it is the man who trusts in him. I like that last verse. Oh taste and see that the Lord is good. You know that we could go out and say friendCome come in worship with us come and get a taste of what this is all about. You know I’ve heard people talking about kind of on a different subject but our owntithing people to say I can I just can’t afford the time and I just can’t afford it. Well taste and say come and tried I’m going to challenge you to give all the ten youhave a tithe I’m not going to put an amount or give a type or a month and see if God will not bless you and you will still have enough. You say I’m using the sameprinciple here. Come and taste the Lord come and praise him. Common Bible study common prayed in taste and see that he has good taste and see that God isfaithful come and trust in him. Amen
and then Psalms ninety two verses one through six. It is good to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to your name of the most high to declare your lovingkindness. Now listen to this this is the when to declare your loving kindness in the morning and your faithfulness every night
and this is the how on an instrument of ten strings on the lute and on the heart with Harmon a sound for you lord have made me glad through your work I willtriumph in the work of your hands. Oh Lord how great are your works. Your thoughts are very deep. A sense of this man does not know nor does the fullunderstand it’s only a census man
that will not understand the works of God the census man says Oh we evolved we evolved from a from an ape. A census mammal look at it God’s beautifulcreation and say it just happened
but the man that has sense will say God Your works are green you are God You are the creator of all things you’re the giver of life. Children How do we sing. Howdo we think. What’s the first thing we must do we want to sing a song.
Use your voice right. You open your mouth you saying with our mouth we must open our mouths to praise God. If you try to think a song without opening yourmouth you’re just common and Harmon is not saying in writing. You might recognize the hum. You might recognize a tune but that’s not singing. It’s said to singpraises to your name oh most high. So we must open her mouth if we’re going to praise Him with our voices. They meant that there are several Hebrew words forpraise in the first as Jada and I didn’t say yada yada yada yada yada. It means praise give thanks or to confess giving thanks is a form of praising God we’rethanking him for what he what he does who he is and all these things. But confessing your contesting to others to greatness and the goodness of God that’sgetting presented him when you confess to others who God is to you what he does for you. The second word is found in the Old Testament is our main thing. Inpraise and then the third word is how Lael. And that is where we get the word Hallelujah meaning to praise honor or command. And all three of these words
reveal to us that we are to give thanks and honor to one who is worthy of praise. And we know that God is worthy of praise. So to be steadfast as we’ve alreadyestablished but steadfast is to be steadfast in our praise does not mean that we can only offer God or praise when things are going so smooth in our lives. Youknow to me that was the most important thing to understand in steadfast praise. We don’t just praise God when our jobs are going well but we just got thatpromotion in a pre rate pay raise we don’t just praise God when the kids haven’t been rebellious and doing things they shouldn’t do. We don’t just praise God whenour health is good and we’re feeling well
but we need to praise Him always even when things are going tough. We need to praise him when the when the kids bring home the bad grades and we’re littleupset with them we still gotta praise God or
whatever we just got that for all notice we still need to praise God
when a bill collectors are sent in the store house we still need to praise God
because he’s still God we praise him because he is worthy of praise. Yes we do spanking him and praise him for the all the wonderful things he does force I’m notsaying we don’t but we need to praise him other times too. We need praise in all ways because he is worthy. Because of who he is not because of ourcircumstances. We praise him regardless of our circumstances because he is God. Amen
lender ECAC said this about praise in the Christian Century Magazine. He says authentic praise of God acknowledges what is true about God
It responds to qualities that are there not simply there for me but are there these the qualities are not there just for me because but it’s because they are there. Inother words God is to be praised because God is God because of what God is and is quite apart from what God is and does for me. So we’ve got to take theselfishness out of it. It’s not just about what God does for me. Niggas I want to say anyone can and should praise God when the Lord blesses one and keeps one.Gratitude is indeed often expressed as praise and rightly. But that does not make praising gratitude identical or does God cease to be praiseworthy when gratitudehas fled because the Lord seems to be of hope be withholding blessing
when a divine face appears to be set against us and when agony dries out peace Do we then cease to praise him. No
no we shouldn’t. We’ve all I’m sure read the story this passage in Acts and Paul is one of the greatest examples of praising God through difficult circumstancesand Acts Chapter sixteen verses twenty three twenty five This says and they brought them to the magistrate and said these men being Jews exceedingly troubleor city and they teach customs which are not lawful for us being Romans to receive or observe. Then the multitude grows up. Together against them and themagistrates tore off their clothes not theirs. But Paul’s and commanded them to be beaten with rods and when they had laid many stripes upon them they threwthem into the prison commanded the jailer to keep them securely. Having received such a charge he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet instocks. But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God and the prisoners were listening to them.
How many of us would be crying out God I was doing this for you. How can you let this happen. God haven’t you let this happen to me I was doing this for you Iwas sharing your gospel I was preaching the kingdom of God and here what did it get me. Many stripes upon his back I’m hurting. But they were praying andsinging hymns for God They were praising God in an extremely difficult situation. What an example for us. Joseph there’s another example in all the Josephendured. We went to see Joe’s been sold by his brothers
thrown in the prison
but he never turned his back on God He prays God through difficult circumstances. When we consider the reasons why we should praise God We find that we canfind a list of his attributes. He is full of glory in Psalms one thirty eight five songs one forty five three says that God is great in Daniel Chapter two verse twenty saysa god is all wise and powerful Psalms one of seven verse say that God is good. Psalm one hundred eighty nine one that God is merciful and faithful
he is merciful or faithful and add to that the list of his. Wonderful works in Psalms eight hundred forty six. He is the one who saves us. If we can praise him fornothin else we can praise him for that that he is the one who saves us saves us from eternal damnation. First Kings. Eight fifty six. That God keeps His promises. IfGod says he’s going to do something you can count on it. He keeps his promises. Praise him for that sums one hundred three. He pardoned sin. Praise him forthat. You know what a pardon is. You’re still guilty. You’re just pardon. We’re free from our sins. In Psalms one thirty six twenty five he gives us our daily food. Godprovides for us. I’ve gave given you plenty of reasons why we should praise God if we try to list all the things that God has done for us
it would probably be impossible. But you know what it’s a wonderful exercise to try because it puts our focus on him. It gets our minds off our self and gets ourminds on to him. Hebrews thirteen fifteen says Therefore by Him Let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise. That is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his namethat is continually. Yes sacrifice. Because sometimes it is a sacrifice to praise him when we’re going through those extremely difficult circumstances. It is a sacrificeyou do not feel like praising him
but you have to do. When I wake up every morning I don’t feel especially prayer prayed for that work. I don’t feel especially pray for I’m not saying that someone’s Idon’t. Not every morning and I’m sure you’ve experienced days where you just don’t feel praiseful
but it’s when we’re feeling down. When we are struggling when our spiritual tank is down towards that is when it’s most necessary that we pray to Him If you wantto get that spiritual meter back up towards a full. My friends praise you know
because when we offer up this sacrifice of praise it can are sure in the presence of the Lord. Chronicles chapter five verse thirteen fourteen says indeed it came topass when the trumpeters and the singers were as one to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord and when they lifted up their voices withthe trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music and praise the Lord saying for he is good for his mercy and doors forever that the House the House the Houseof the Lord was filled with a cloud so that the priest could not continue ministering because of the cloud for the glory of the Lord fill out. So when you don’t feel likeit praise him anyway because it was sure in his presence and then you will feel like praising him amen. Lord come and fill this house fill with your cloud when youjoin me and exulting the Lord in praise in his name
that it might are sure in his presence
he is worthy. You know sometimes people will resist publicly praising God
you know they might think you’re a little strange I mean you walk in downtown just praising God and singing to him some of the say what are they babbling about.Who cares what they think
because that’s between you and God
somebody might be a little.
That the presence of God was coming back into the city of Jerusalem. We’re belong. He didn’t care what others thought
because he was praising his Lord praise in the presence of God coming back
you know the man who or the city or the nation who had the ark was a happy man because the blessings that came along with God’s presence those who haveChrist here have Christ. New Year can be a happy man
not because of circumstances but because you have presence of the Lord in you.
Memba story of Paul I just shared with you how he impressed the press and he made to the prisoners. They could see the wounds upon their backs saw that theyhad been beaten severely but yet I think the impression that it made on their hearts to see them praying and singing worshipping God
years ago Karen I was very young believers and we were blessed to go to a rainbow concert and there was a man there
is a big guy. I mean any had a better handle on him probably twice the size of my hands and big arms and he was praising the Lord and that just touched myheart. It really made an impression upon my heart to see a man that you know you could like you could grab you probably break into but you could see thehumbleness of this man it was like a gentle giant to me. And to see him praising God It made an impression on me that it stuck with me. The last song tells us thelast song in the book songs songs one fifty says Praise the Lord praise God in his sanctuary that tells us where we are to pray. Some one place is in thesanctuary. Amen. Praise Him in His mighty firmament So we are to praise him in the sanctuary but when you go out that door what are you walking out into themighty firmament So you are to praise him there also correct. Praise him for his mighty acts
for what he has done. Praise Him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet kids’ words your trumpet
praise him with the trumpet praise him with the lute and with the harp praise him with the timber one dance
as it may we should all be dancing around God God is a God a border but if the God of God telling you to dance dance praise him with the dance praise him withthe strained instruments in the flutes praise him with loud cymbals. I know you’d like to make some noise with them would be as praise Him with all our symbolspraise him with the clashing symbols. Now I did this at the beginning when the count of three I want everybody to take a big deep breath. One two three. Leteverything that has breath praise the lord amen you have breath because you just witness that you took a big breath let everything that has breath praise the Lordbecause everything that has breath has that breath because God has given it to them. You remember the story where Jesus in the triumphal entry is he’s come into Drew some looked out over city but all the people or land up in are shouting Hosanna Hosanna in the highest Hosanna in the highest. But the scribes andPharisees crowd said teacher so rebuke your disciples tell him to be quiet. How did Jesus respond
if they should be quiet the stones will cry out. My friends of if we are quiet the stones will cry out. Do you want stones crying out in your place. I don’t
let everything that has breath praise him praise him with all of your heart always continually steadfastly praising him. I’m not going to say that everything in your lifea lot of my paternal around but God’s presence will be with you. He will take your hand and help you through that difficult time.
You remember the picture the footprints in the sand. God didn’t leave that’s where God is carrying us. He will see you through. That’s why we can praise himcontinually
pray should be a vital part of our lives. I hope it is a vital part of your life. So that’s your challenge for this coming week. You know this coming month you know
the rest of your lives. Praise Him always. Amen amen.
